An experience I will never forget!!

I promised you a story of an amazing experience that happened to Joanne and I as we went for a walk in the countryside in the Lake District, near Beatrix Potter's home. Our favorite thing to do in the english countryside was to go for walks with our cameras in tow. The first morning we were ready to take a walk, but we stopped and felt the need to pinch each other, just to make sure that we weren't dreaming! The sight, the smells and the sounds were absolutely unbelievable! I felt like I had awoken in a dream land.

It was a lot to take in, the smell of flowers blooming everywhere, the sound of sheep baa-ing and the sight of meandering rock walls that you know were made by hand and the green of the fields were like no green I have ever seen. It was so invigorating and inspiring at the same time.

As Joanne and I walked along we came across a border collie carrying a very large branch in his mouth. He was so serious about the job he was doing and he wanted nothing to do with us. We started following him and soon we came upon his owner, an Englishman with a thick accent. He was friendly and he did not make us nervous. He said he had something he wanted to show us, so we followed him! I know you are thinking we were crazy!! But we did not ever feel like we were in danger! We made our way up a hill and as we crested the top of the hill, we were amazed by the sight that was waiting for us!

It was a gorgeous lake called Moss Eccles Tarn. It was owned by Beatrix Potter and she and her husband would take a boat out and row around on it during the summer evenings.

It was surrounded by patches of red and pink rhododendrons. It was stunning! But this was not what our Englishman friend wanted to show us! Don't worry! We continued on towards the edge of the lake and we could see something white in the distance. It was a pair of white swans and their babies! Which are called cygnets. Now we knew why he was carrying a bag of bread! He would come here often to feed the swans and they knew him well. We were so honored that he shared his friends with us. They were a beautiful sight to see.

Joanne and I were so inspired and touched by what we saw that day! We knew this trip would be one we would remember forever! This trip has continued to inspire me to this day! I remember not wanting to leave and I dream of going back someday. The Lake District has become part of my soul and I think of it often and fondly!

There are some new Gnomes in town!

I just listed new Garden Gnome Terrarium necklaces in my Etsy store. There are some perfect for Valentine's Day and some that celebrate Spring. I hope Spring comes early this year! If not, you can wear a bit of Spring around your neck with my newest Gnomes flying kites pendants! I am really excited about these!!
