Foxes are still hot this year! These cute little guys are the best selling item in my shop! I have sold eight so far this year! I still have two orders to create. One is for a baby shower, it will have a mom, a dad, a sibling and a baby fox peeking out of the fox hole! I am looking forward to making it! I would love to make one for you too! The popularity of these foxy little critters has been a surprise to me! It has been really fun working with the clients for each of these to add, their special touches. I am honored to be able to create something that becomes a special part of someone big day! I will be posting more photos of my cake toppers on bride's cakes as they send them to me! Check out my other toppers in my Etsy shop! https://www.etsy.com/shop/workofwhimsy?ref=si_shop

I have had a bouquet of daffodils in my studio for two weeks now. I am on my second bunch now and as soon as these wilt I plan on replacing them with new ones. I am hoping that soon I can get flowers from my yard, because I see new growth popping up all over! Spring is here and I am soooo excited!!! I am so ready to get outside and get my hands dirty and plant something! But knowing me I will get carried away, do too much and then not be able to walk or stand up straight without pain for three days! So for a warm up I am checking out Pinterest looking for herb garden ideas. I love using fresh herbs when I cook! Last year I did this. And it became this! This year I want to try something BIGGER! Maybe this.... Or one of these.... Check out my blog later this season to see what I decide to do!
Happy Spring and Happy Planting!! During a beautiful, mild winter evening, my son Ben, our dog Baxter and I climbed into the Mini and headed to our favorite lake. Baxter was so excited to get to go for a car ride and to check out a new place! I heard recently on the news that Kansas has sunsets that rival any around the world. I have to say that I am loving the ones that I am getting to experience!
Here are some wonderful quotes about sunsets. "When I admire the wonders of a sunset or the beauty of the moon, my soul expands in the worship of the creator." - Mahatma Gandhi "Every sunset brings the promise of a new dawn" - Ralph Waldo Emerson "Sunsets, like childhood, are viewed with wonder not just because they are beautiful but because they are fleeting." - Richard Paul Evans "Peace is seeing the sunset and knowing who to thank." - Unknown Author Wishing you many sunrises and sunsets. Tammy The kids have been out of school since Tuesday! We have had nearly a foot of snow here in Platte City! The roads in our area have been treacherous and the temperatures have been in the negative range. I don't mind the snow too much as long as I don't have to drive in it, so I stayed home for three days. I saw it as an opportunity to practice using my new camera in these conditions. So I bundled up and headed out, first to the back yard with Baxter, my labradoodle. He loves the snow and it really gets him all wound up! Enjoying winter now, but looking forward to Spring! My favorite time of year!
Tammy I have been using my iPhone and a small point and shoot camera for the longest time, to take all my product shots. I didn't want to spend a ton, but I wanted a great camera that was easy to use and versatile. So I got a Canon Rebel Digital SLR camera. The first thing wanted to do after going through the owner's manual was to head out to my new retreat, Wyandotte County Lake! So I headed back out to the lake! Not to bad for my first time out with my new toy! More to come!
Take time to enjoy the wildlife in your neck of the woods! Tammy A couple of weekends ago; I was looking for something to do outside, because it was in the 50's. Which right now seems like a heatwave! My boys and I were getting together with my mom, Cheri, my sister, Pam and my nephew Drew. I have been on a quest to see as many eagles as I can before they migrate north. So I did a google search looking for good places to see eagles and this lake popped up in the search. It is only 10 minutes from my house and I had never been there before. We have lived in our house for 19 years and I never thought of checking out this lake before. So we decided to take a chance and we were all glad we did! It was such a enjoyable day and it felt great to breathe some fresh air and spend time with my family. But my favorite part of the day was watching my mom truly enjoy herself! I was thankful that I found a place that we all enjoyed so much! I believe she could have spent all day out there! I think her favorite thing was the trumpeter swans. If you have never been to this lake it is so worth the trip! There is so much to see and do! It is so easy to stay inside and just hibernate, but I was missing out on so much wildlife!
Enjoy winter before it is gone! Tammy ![]() I promised you a story of an amazing experience that happened to Joanne and I as we went for a walk in the countryside in the Lake District, near Beatrix Potter's home. Our favorite thing to do in the english countryside was to go for walks with our cameras in tow. The first morning we were ready to take a walk, but we stopped and felt the need to pinch each other, just to make sure that we weren't dreaming! The sight, the smells and the sounds were absolutely unbelievable! I felt like I had awoken in a dream land. It was a lot to take in, the smell of flowers blooming everywhere, the sound of sheep baa-ing and the sight of meandering rock walls that you know were made by hand and the green of the fields were like no green I have ever seen. It was so invigorating and inspiring at the same time.
It was a gorgeous lake called Moss Eccles Tarn. It was owned by Beatrix Potter and she and her husband would take a boat out and row around on it during the summer evenings. It was surrounded by patches of red and pink rhododendrons. It was stunning! But this was not what our Englishman friend wanted to show us! Don't worry! We continued on towards the edge of the lake and we could see something white in the distance. It was a pair of white swans and their babies! Which are called cygnets. Now we knew why he was carrying a bag of bread! He would come here often to feed the swans and they knew him well. We were so honored that he shared his friends with us. They were a beautiful sight to see.
Here are some links to places we visited.
