It has been waaaay to long since I have done anything on my website! I decided I needed to correct that. Life gets crazy busy, but I need to remember to stop, if even for a moment to reflect and be grateful. I want to think about where I am at and where I want to go with my Work of Whimsy business. I am looking for something to kick start my creative energy!
I am so excited to get my new Gold iPad Pro 12.9inch 512gb with pencil and keyboard! It is so much fun to draw on, it felt like I was actually using a pencil without the mess. With life being so busy, I am finding it hard to keep the creative inspiration coming and I am hoping this new toy will help. Today is the first day of Spring and it brings with it the promise of beautiful weather, spring flowers and new ideas! I am ready to get my hands dirty in the garden and in the studio! Happy Spring! The leaves are starting to turn and the nights are becoming cool and crisp. The time for our annual trip to Pumpkins Etc. has arrived, we are running a bit late this year! But we make sure to never miss this trip. We only have three of our youngsters with us this year, Ben, Megan and Jamey, but we sure do miss Zach and Molly. They are all growing up so fast and going off to conquer the world! One of the best blessings that God rewards us with as parents; is the pride we feel when our children are confident enough to go and make something of themselves. Zach is serving our country and on deployment right now and out on the ocean somewhere. He can't tell me where he is and as a mom, I find that a little worrying. I pray constantly for his safety, but I am so very proud of him and the sacrifice he is making to keep all of us safe. May God bless all our children on their journeys. Pumpkins Etc. is run by Bill and Kathy Wright, their farm is just east of Platte City, Missouri. Their four children started the pumpkin patch in 1984, but they have now all grown up and are on their own. It is always wonderful to see Kathy and Bill. Of course the kittens that they have every year are always a big draw for our kiddos! At the end of the season all the kittens are adopted out. This pumpkin patch has been our favorite since our boys were little. Here are a few early pictures! So if you love fall as much as I do, please get out their and celebrate the season, because it goes by quickly! Winter will be here before we know it! Happy Fall! It has been WAYYYYYY too long since I posted in my blog, so I am going to try and keep it more up to date. Life has been very busy for the past year or more. So many things have dramatically changed, but the first and most significant has been my oldest son Zach has joined the Navy and is stationed in San Diego, California on Coronado Island. We are so very proud of him, but miss him dearly. Below is a pic of him in his dad's navy hat, maybe it was a look into the future. My youngest Ben has done his best to keep us busy and distracted so we can't mope too much about Zach being away from home. He is learning to drive! Yikes! Ben has also kept me busy every weekend at baseball tournaments! It has been pretty exhausting, but we both love baseball. I have also been trying to get ready for some art shows I have coming up in September. Never a slow moment! I have been playing with felt and concrete! Seems like an odd combo doesn't it! I am always wanting to try new materials, so why not concrete! Here is a sneak peek of what I have been making. The cute containers are made of concrete and the succulents are made of felt. So now it is time to spend more time creating and keep up with this website. So check back from time to time!

I am so happy I am not the only gnome addict out there!! Have a wonderful gnome day! Tammy It has been a busy summer creating wedding cake toppers for wonderful creative brides! It is so great to see that there are brides who appreciate the Garden Gnome as much as I do! Enough to have themselves and their groom represented with an adorable gnome couple on their wedding cake. It has been fun to add in special details, such as hair colors, side ponytails, clothing colors and flower types and colors. A couple of my creative brides sent me pictures of their beautiful cakes for me to share with you! A Canadian Gnome WeddingThis wonderful wedding cake belongs to Victoria in Canada. I love getting to see all the trends in wedding cakes, such as this one where the cake layers show through a very thin coating of icing. I love the fresh flowers too! These are pictures of Victoria's topper before I sent it to her. A California Gnome WeddingThis amazing cake belongs to Ellie and Mark in California. I love the succulents, mushrooms, butterflies and moss added to this beautiful cake. Also the sweet pennant garland. The tree base is great display for such a creative cake! It is so exciting to see how the cake topper I create for my brides, becomes a very special part of their day and it becomes a keepsake from the wedding day, that they will have forever! I am truly honored each and every time I am asked to make a cake topper for a bride.
Every day should be a Gnome Day! Tammy It has been a fun time creating some unique cake toppers and wedding jewelry! Here is a few of them! A big Thank you goes out to the wonderful and creative clients I have had the pleasure of creating these toppers for! Of course after the wedding almost always follows baby!
A wonderful bride named Stacey, from New Jersey contacted me and was so excited to find my fox cake toppers, because her last name was about to become Fox when she gets married! She was a pleasure to work with and had the great idea to add bling (rhinestones) instead of pearls to the veil and also to the heart instead of a wreath. I love how it turned out! I see a new option to offer! Stacey and Eamonn recently got married! Congratulations!! Stacey sent me some pictures of her wonderful day to share with you! Thanks Stacey! I want to wish Stacey and Eamonn much happiness and many blessings in their life together!
