Our new fish buddies now have names, courtesy of my husband, Rick. Our clown knife fish is Mac the Knife, from the song and our tiger oscar is Hobbs, from Calvin and Hobbs cartoon, Rick's favorite! It has been so much fun having these two guys, because they have so much personality! Hobbs is learning the routine of feeding time. I turn on the light, open the lid and tap on the tank to get his attention and he comes out swimming like he just woke up. Then he gets all excited and follows me, until I reach in with his food and he has gotten brave enough to take his food from my hand. We also feed them both minnows which my boys think is really cool. Mac is the only one to catch the minnows so far, Hobbs just can't quite catch them and is not really brave enough yet. Hobbs is still just a little guy, not even three inches yet, but he is growing!

Today, we welcomed two new pets at our house! The guy on the left is a Clown Knife fish and the other guy is a Tiger Oscar. I was inspired to get the oscar, because my dad had two. He would feed them by hand and could pet them. They were the funniest fish! This little guy is just over two inches long, so he has a lot of growing to do! I have had knife fish before in this tank and I just love them, they are the coolest fish and they can swim backwards!
I absolutely love roses and my rose bushes are just loaded with blooms this year! I was so excited when I drove up to my house tonight and saw that my cabbage rose bushes were covered in blooms! I couldn't wait to cut a few to sit on my desk in my studio to enjoy while I work. I planted four new rose bushes this spring. One bush is a Knock Out Rose and the other three roses bushes are thornless. They are called Smooth Touch Thornless Roses and are cultivated by Harvey Davidson. The large bright pink rose in my bouquet is from my new thornless rose bush. I checked out the website, www.smoothtouchroses.com and discovered that there are other varieties of thornless roses. I just may have to order some! http://recycledawblog.blogspot.com/2013/04/recycle-teacup-gardens-fairy-gardens.html I wish they would have credited my shop or had a link to my shop! It is a nice blog entry though!
Becoming and being a mom is the most challenging, exhausting and yes, most rewarding thing I have ever done! There is no greater gift that God could have given me than my two boys, Zach and Ben. I have to do a shout out to my favorite nursery in Riverside, Missouri! They have the BEST selection and quality of any nursery I have ever been to and their prices are great! Check out their website and FaceBook page with the links above! They have been around for 30 years! They have an amazing selection of succulents! I plan on making a succulent container. Their vegetable selection is like none I have ever seen! They have at least 50 different varieties of tomatoes. The colors are wonderful! They have four green houses full of just perennials. Greenhouses of just geraniums and the most beautiful hanging baskets! You can see my hot pink geranium basket in my last post. |
Tammy HaddixI created Work of Whimsy as an outlet for my creativity! I create christmas ornaments on my day job. I had so many ideas that I wanted to bring to life and this was the perfect way. I can create whatever I want and if I am lucky there is someone out there that wants to buy it! So far it is going better than I expected! Archives
